FOR SACRED HEART FAMILIES

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

COMPASS

It is extremely important that all parents and carers are accessing the COMPASS Portal either via the Compass App on their phone or on their computer desktop. This is our parent communication platform for:

  • giving permission and making payment for all school events by due dates
  • receiving important information regarding school activities
  • receiving your child's school academic reports
  • booking Parent/Teacher Interviews
  • submitting absentee notes for your child
  • emailing your child's teacher

If you are unable to access COMPASS or cannot remember your username, please contact Ms Traynor at the front for instructions.

ICAS ASSESSMENTS

ICAS is a historic academic competition that has been sat by over 10 million school students from 16,000 schools across 41 countries since 1981.

It recognises academic performance in a way similar to sports or the arts, with engaging, fun questions designed by psychometricians, education measurement experts and experienced teachers to test students’ higher-order thinking skills.

The ICAS assessments are open to students in Year 3 to 6 at our school. Parents are able to see the cost of each assessment and enter their child if they think that it is suitable for them. The assessments will be delivered to the students at school on the designated dates.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN ICAS

If you wish for your child to participate in ICAS this year, sign up to your chosen subject areas using the link below and use the school access code: JMZ547 . Registration for all subject areas closes on Monday 29 July at 11:59pm.

For further information, please contact either Ms Traynor or Mrs Goddard.

WINTER WEATHER

As the days remain cold and many different illnesses are circulating in our school and the community, we ask that you please remind your children about the importance of covering your coughs and sneezes.

Sneeze, blow your nose or cough into a disposable tissue, and discard the tissue immediately into a bin. If tissues are not readily available, cough or sneeze into your upper arm or sleeve; avoid using your hands. Move away from other people when coughing or sneezing. Always wash your hands after coughing or sneezing using soapy water or hand sanitiser.

**It would be appreciated if each family could bring in a box of tissues for the classroom.

BEST PRACTICE:  if your child is sick, home is the best place for them.

If your child does return to school and needs the administration staff to administer medication, please contact Robyn in the office for a SHORT TERM ADMINISTRATION OF MEDICATION FORM to complete and ensure that the medication has your child's name on it and is in its original package.

If your child is away from school for 3 or more consecutive days due to illness, parents should request a medical certificate from their treating doctor.
