Farewell Chris

Today is Chris Clarkson's last day at work. Chris has been an integral part of our office staff for the past 18.5 years. She seen many changes during that time, answered many thousands of phone calls and provided support for our whole school community in a friendly and positive way.  We wish her all the best for a happy and fun-filled retirement.

Shining a light on Student Voice and HEPS

This year, we are focusing on Student Voice at HEPS. This means that we are actively listening to our students regarding ways that might enhance their learning and wellbeing experience at our school.  Over the past few weeks all teachers have surveyed their students regarding what they would like more of or less of in their school day.   The results were analysed by the Wellbeing team as sorted into the most common responses.  We have decided to focus on one element or activity per week for the rest of the term these are;

The first focus (Week 5) is ACTIVE GAMES WITH THE TEACHER.  This is a great choice from our students as we know that research states that students thrive when they are healthy as well as make positive connections with their teachers and parents.

Here is an example of a Level 4 and Foundation class

School Review Parent Survey

Thank you to the parents who have completed our survey.  We have enjoyed reading your responses. It supports our understanding of the parent experience of school at HEPS.

We invite other parents to engage with and complete the survey by Friday 23rd August.  School Review Parent Survey

Annual General Meeting

  • the proceedings of the council since the date of the previous public meeting; and
  • presention of the endorsed Annual Report

In 2024 our reporting meeting will be held in the school’s staffroom on Wednesday 21st August beginning at 6:30pm.  The Annual Report will be published on our website after this meeting.

Tee-Ball Region Bound

Congratulations on our boy's Tee-Ball team that have progressed to Region level. I know the boys have been training hard with the guidance of Mr Hodgson and deserved the win.  We wish the teeballers all the best at Region on the 22nd of August.

BOOK WEEK ASSESMLY will occur on Tuesday 20th of August with a book character parade commencing at 9:00 am outside the assembly area near the front office. This year’s theme is ‘Reading in Magic’ and we would love to see lots of parents/carers at the parade. We have lots of fun activities planned for the day including an Author’s workshop. We are looking forward to seeing the variety of costumes that children create to celebrate this special event.

National Science Week (10-18 August)

This week is National Science Week. The theme, ‘Species Survival - More than just sustainability’,  aims to highlight the importance of science and innovation in ensuring the survival and thriving of different species in an ever-changing world. Thank you to Mrs Dennis (STEAM Teacher) and Mrs Whitfield (Sustainability Teacher) for planning several different activities for students to do this week including an animal scavenger hunt in the dry creek bed area, Minecraft challenges in the STEAM room and building a wildlife hedge in the Kitchen garden.

Below are photos of students completing the scavenger hunt.
