Hello Parents and Friends,
We have had a fantastic time at TPPS over the last two weeks. Last Tuesday, our Preps celebrated 100 days of school. They all looked amazing in their brightest colours and they all enjoyed the day as they celebrated this important milestone. Please take a look in the Learning @ TPPS section to learn more about their special day. We are so proud of our youngest students and grateful for the outstanding Grade Prep teachers.
Last Friday we held our TPPS Mini Olympics. Each class represented a different country and it was so pleasing to see our students decked out in their team colours. After our opening ceremony, all students participated in tabloid activities based around Olympic sports. All students and staff had a magnificent time and it was so special to bring the Olympic spirit to TPPS.
Our fantastic Grade 6 students participated in the Aspire Higher program last Monday where they had three sessions focussing on the following areas:
Our Grade 6 students have been exemplary leaders thus far this year and programs such as this will only help them to build their personal and leadership capabilities.
These are just a snippet of the rich learning that is taking place at TPPS at the moment. We are such a rich and empowering learning community.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Bullying No Way: National Week of Action - 12 – 16 August
Next week TPPS will be taking part in the Bullying No Way Week. This special week is
Australia’s key bullying prevention initiative and helps schools and communities to find workable solutions to prevent bullying. The theme for 2024 is 'Everyone belongs'. When we all feel like we belong, bullying struggles to find a place. It's about embracing who we are, respecting everyone's differences and standing up together against unkindness.
Throughout the week, our students will be participating in a range of anti-bullying activities and reiterating our school strategies to prevent bullying. This will include a special dress up day on Friday 16th of August where we invite all students to wear their brightest clothes to create a happy place where we all belong.
At TPPS, our RRIPO values, Positive Education program and Respectful Relationships curriculum guide our anti-bullying initiatives. It is our aim to educate all students about the impacts of bullying and how we all have a part to play in reduce its occurrence.
Unfortunately, bullying occurs in all workplaces and schools. It is our job to work together to prevent it from occurring and to educate our students to make our community safe for everyone. Please see the links below on strategies we teach our students and how parents can assist in the process if they believe their child is bullying someone or being bullied.
Book Week – 17 – 23 August – Reading is Magic!
We are so excited to be celebrating Book Week at TPPS in Week 6. Throughout the week
our students will be reading the short-listed books and undertaking rich learning activities about them.
On Friday 23rd of August all students are encouraged to dress up as their favourite book character for our special Book Week Dress Up Day!
We will be hosting a parade of all students at 9:10am and we invite our community to join us for this special event.
Parents / Caregivers / Guardians Opinion Survey
As published on Compass this week, the Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey is now open. This annual survey is offered by the Department of Education and is conducted amongst a group of parents at each school. We have decided decided to invite all parents to participate as they feel a broader response base would provide a more authentic representation of parent opinion.
All TPPS parents can access the survey via Compass. Please read the directions carefully and ensure that only one parent, caregiver or guardian complete the survey. We thank you in advance for taking the time to help us improve our school.
Birthday treats at school
To avoid disappointment and to support the safety and well-being of all students, we
request that parents and carers read the following guidelines about birthday treats at school carefully.
At TPPS, we have a number of students at our school who are anaphylactic or have severe allergies to a range of foods. Anaphylaxis is a severe, rapidly progressive allergic reaction that is potentially life threatening. Certain foods and insect stings are the most common causes of anaphylaxis.
It is very difficult to monitor the ingredients in foods that are brought in for birthdays. It is for this reason that we ask families to please follow these guidelines when bringing food to the school for a birthday.
These guidelines will be strictly adhered to by teachers and all school staff.
Birthday treats will be distributed to students at the end of the school day. If birthday treats do not meet the above guidelines, the treats will be returned home.
It is perfectly acceptable not to bring in treats and we will celebrate each child’s birthday in the class by singing 'Happy Birthday' to them. As a school we never supply food or drink as rewards for students. School-wide rewards systems include certificates, ribbons, class games, etc.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
Young Einsteins Pre-school program
Our Young Einsteins pre-school program will continue next Wednesday. Young Einsteins is one of our popular Prep transition programs that we host in Term 3. In Term 2, pre-schoolers participated in the Taste of School program where they undertook Visual Arts and Sport lessons. Young Einsteins provides pre-school children with STEM and Sustainability lessons. The pre-school children had a wonderful time learning about magnets and worms.
Our comprehensive pre-school and transition program ensures our 2025 Preps feel comfortable, settled and ready to jump into their Prep year. Our second and final Young Einsteins program will take place on Wednesday 14th of August and formal transition sessions will commence in Term 4.
Principals’ Award
At assembly this afternoon, Jersey B from Grade 6 was presented the Principals' Award.
