Division Soccer finals took place on August 1st and 2nd, congratulations on your legendary sportsmanship !
By Mr Van Dyk:
Congratulations to our fifteen Grade 5/6 girls who represented CJC at the Kingston Division Soccer Playoffs yesterday at Aspendale Gardens Reserve. Under glorious sunshine, the girls compete in three matches against schools across the day. Although we didn’t achieve the ultimate success, the improvement from our first game to last game was obvious for all to see! After a lot of near misses across the first two and a half games, the signature moment of the day belonged to Philippa Haling who managed to dribble through a wall of defenders and find the back of the net in the last 5 minutes of our final game. The joy among the team was amazing to see.
For a large portion of the team, this was their first experience of competitive soccer and they should be commended for their perseverance and willingness to have a go. A big acknowledgement also to our girls who play soccer regularly, who did exceptionally well of supporting our first-timers!
Finally, thankyou to our parents who supported the event and organised the car-pooling to ensure the day ran successfully.
Fresh off the press: Our mixed team won three games out of three and made it to the finals!
Second year in a row, CJC's team made it to the finals, but was just short of winning the Division. This is a fantastic result for our enthousiastic and talented soccer players !
Bravo !
