Celebrating Our School Values

Over the past four weeks, students have been exploring our school values of Respect, Responsibility, Excellence, and Growth.  Through classroom activities, discussions, and play, students have been learning how to demonstrate these values in their daily actions and interactions. We are proud to see our students and school community embracing these values and understanding them.

Our Matrix of Expected Behaviours helps students know how to show our school values across classrooms, playgrounds, our community and online. It guides positive choices, supports staff, and helps create a caring, and learning school community.

You can help your child connect with our school values by talking about simple everyday choices.  The books below are some you may like to share together.

Respect

• Listen carefully to your child and others

• Encourage empathy by discussing how actions affect others

Responsibility

• Help your child manage chores and routines
• Encourage them to take ownership of mistakes and successes

• Celebrate effort, persistence, and doing their best, not just outcomes
• Encourage pride in completing tasks to a high standard
• Provide opportunities to explore interests and talents

Growth

• Talk about learning from mistakes and trying again
• Encourage curiosity and asking questions
