Student Learning

YEAR 2
Year 2 has made a fantastic start to Term 1! We’ve been getting to know one another and exploring how we learn best as individuals. In Writing, students have loved using their five senses to describe different fruits for our very special visitor — an alien friend named Zuko! It has been wonderful to see their creativity shine as they carefully chose words to make their descriptions come alive.
We have also been busy scientists in our classrooms, planting and nurturing our very own rocket seeds. The excitement of watching them grow each day has been a highlight! We have included some fantastic procedural writing examples for you to see!
One of the standout moments of the term so far was our walk to the Lucas Community Garden. The visit provided inspiration for the edible gardens we are hoping to establish at school. Our school values of respect and responsibility were proudly displayed as students thoughtfully observed plants and minibeasts, ensuring everything was left just as we found it.
We are looking forward to a wonderful term of learning ahead!
Year 3
Over the past few weeks, our Year 3 students have been settling back into classroom routines through the Great Start Program.
On our first day back at school, each student received a container of Play-Doh and was invited to create a special moment or fun memory from their holidays. They then wrote about their creation, sharing their ideas and experiences with the class.
In Writing, we have been exploring how to develop ideas for a narrative. Students have practised creating interesting characters, describing their traits and developing rich, descriptive settings to bring their stories to life.
In Numeracy, students have been enjoying a variety of maths games to strengthen their understanding of our numeracy trolley resources and support their learning in Place Value. Some class favourites so far have been Bankrupt, 100 Laughs, and 3 Guesses.
We are really looking forward to what the rest of the term has in store, especially our incursion, Democracy, Community and Me, in Week 6!
