Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Carers,
As we hit the halfway mark of the term, it is a good time to reflect on the progress made so far and the acknowledgement of all the work that has led to smooth transitions back to school. There have been many achievements already this term and many more engaging learning opportunities ahead.
We would like to welcome Mrs Georgie Clarke to our teaching team. Mrs Clarke comes to us from Woady Yaloak PS and will be teaching Art on Mondays and PE on Tuesdays.
It has been great seeing the students out enjoying the sunshine and each other’s company.
School Council Nominations
Our school council met on February 16 for the last time before nominations are called for the coming year. At the end of 2025, our application to increase the composition of the school council was approved. We now have the capacity for 14 councillors comprising of 8 parents, 4 staff and 2 community members.
Nominations are now open for the 2026 school year. You can nominate another parent or self-nominate by collecting a form from the school office. The attached form has all the details regarding the upcoming nomination period.
An information sheet can also be found below that outlines the role of the school council.
If you would like to discuss this opportunity further, please don’t hesitate to contact the school office.
Attendance Notes
This term we have implemented a number of strategies to improve our attendance and decrease unexplained absences. One of the strategies is to send home a physical copy of any unexplained absences each week. Parents who receive these notes are encouraged to provide reasons for their child’s absence.
There are 3 ways this can be achieved:
1. Fill in the reasons on the sheet and send back to the school office.
2. Log into Compass and enter absence notes for the dates indicated on the sheet.
3. Ring the school office and register absences with staff.
We thank those parents and carers who are already registering absences.
Playground Update.
The technical drawings are in for the new playground which is very exciting. We are awaiting the final tenders before a decision can be made as to the construction company for the project. We look forward to sharing more details with you shortly.
Foundation Students - Full Time Attendance
We are very excited for our Foundation students to begin full time attendance as of next week. Our youngest students have made terrific growth already this year as they get used to new surroundings, new friends and new systems and processes.
All Foundation students were photographed last week as part of the Big Steps, Little Feet Courier program. This program has been capturing foundation students from across our district for the last 20 years celebrating the first year of schooling. Please keep an eye out in the Courier for this year’s edition.
2027 Foundation Tours.
Families are welcome to book tours of the school for 2027 Foundation enrolments. Tours are available each Wednesday at 10am and bookings can be made by calling the school office. During the tour, families will hear about the school structures, the Foundation Transition Program and also receive a tour of the school. An enrolment pack will also be made available to all participants.
Key Enrolment dates for 2027 are:
- Enrolment Forms due by Friday July 31, 2026.

Year 3-6 Athletics Sports
Next Thursday March 5, our Year 3-6 students will be heading off to their Athletic Sports at Llanberris. During the day, the students will participate in a range of track and field events and support each other to do their best.
All students will travel from school at 9.00am and return by 3.30pm. Parents, carers and friends are welcome to attend and support the students as they participate throughout the day. A timetable can be seen below to assist with family organisation.
The students are asked to bring their snack, lunch and drink bottle to keep them hydrated and energised throughout the day. The canteen will be open at Llanberris for adults only. No students will be permitted to purchase from the canteen.
Our thanks to Miss Middlin, Miss Down and Mrs Baker for all the work that has gone into the preparation of the sports. We are looking forward to a wonderful day!
