Disability Inclusion
Alyssa McNeilly

Welcome to my first contribution to the Staff Bulletin, where I will share insights and updates related to Disability Inclusion.
The Disability Inclusion Reform has 3 main goals:
1. To deliver a more effective model of funding and support to students with disability.
2. To improve whole-school approaches and practices and improve teaching practice and delivery of reasonable adjustments to meet diverse student needs.
3. To build a culture of inclusion across all schools.
The Disability Inclusion (DI) reform has now reached full roll-out, however the work of embedding DI in schools and school practice continues.
More than 25,000 profiles have been completed since the reform launched in Term 4, 2021.
Reviews of the profile process have shown that the profile is a valid tool, suitable for identifying functional needs, allocating individualised funding to schools to deliver adjustments to students with high needs, and driving practice change. These reviews, along with feedback from key stakeholders have informed changes to the Profile process from 2026.
If you are new to the Disability Inclusion reform, I will be supporting the whole school to understand the key components, starting with a professional learning session on 10th March.
In the meantime, please don't hesitate to ask me any questions or introduce yourself.
