I would like to share that PE lessons have been going well this term and are being thoroughly enjoyed by students, despite the occasional weather changes and necessary adjustments to suit conditions.
Students in Classes 1 and 2 have been engaging enthusiastically in play-themed games, developing their balance and coordination through activities such as Hopscotch Rock Paper Scissors and obstacle courses.
Classes 3 and 4 have also been enjoying a variety of games, with cricket proving to be a particular favourite - especially after it was requested during after-school care on parent/teacher meeting day.
Classes 5 and 6 have had the opportunity to try a range of sports so far this term, including archery, discus, shot put and pickleball, building both skills and confidence across different activities.
For your information, this year’s Swimming Carnival will be held in Term 4. This change is due to the Learn to Swim program taking place in Term 2, which was the only available booking. Further details regarding swimming will be shared closer to the time.
Congratulations to all students who recently trialled for regional teams - it’s wonderful to see so many getting involved. At this stage, Max Taylor has been selected in the regional soccer squad, with the final Under 12 boys’ team still being confirmed. Holly Rowan has been selected in the Under 12 girls’ Alice region soccer team - a fantastic achievement.
Regional cricket trials are being held this Tuesday and Wednesday. I wish all the very best to students selected in regional teams, who will continue training in preparation for state competitions in Term 2 for AFL, cricket, netball and soccer.
If you have any questions about the swimming program, PE lessons, or your child’s sporting opportunities, please don’t hesitate to get in touch - I’m always happy to help.
Thank you, and all the best,
Heath Morris
