Focus On...
Through the eyes of our Year 1 and 2 students ...
A couple of weeks ago I had the privilege of watching one of our Year 1 and 2 classes present about the threads, what they meant to them and some examples of their formational learning activities. It was presented in a beautiful age-appropriate manner to an audience of 100 who loved hearing about their learning.
Read on to catch some Year 1 and 2 wisdom;
Welcome to the JP Echidna-led GT. Over the past two weeks, we have been talking about the MECS Threads. Today we are going to share some of the activities we have been doing to help us remember the MECS Threads (Lucy).
The first thread is ‘Welcoming Advocate’. A welcoming advocate is someone who is kind and includes other people. They reflect God’s love as they show love to others (April).
We made a ‘welcome sign’ for our classroom door by tracing our arms (Oscar).
A community builder wants to make everyone feel a part of the group (Taliyah).
On orientation day, we used our photos to make a picture of us as a community builder (Isaac).
This year, every child in JP decorated a brick and we made a JP community wall together (Lucy).
A truth discerner uses God’s word to work out what is right and to make good choices (Addie).
We made lanterns (Jack).
The lanterns remind us that God’s Word can shine a light that shows us how to live God’s way (Lily).
An awe dweller is someone who thinks God’s World is AWESOME! (Jack).
We went outside and drew pictures of God’s creation (Hudson).
We turned our pictures into window frames (Tobi).
A creation keeper is someone who takes good care of the world that God created (Nate).
On Orientation Day last year, we all went up to the Bush Kinder (Noah).
We talked about the ways we can care for our MECS land (Carla).
A justice seeker is someone who can recognise when something is unfair and takes steps to make things better for others. Mrs Griffiths has done a lot of talking about being kind and fair in JPE (Joe).
A purposeful learner is always listening, always growing, always learning and asks excellent questions! (Noah).
We made a purposeful learning garden with Mrs Woods (Azalea).
Mrs Woods teaches us on Wednesdays (Robyn).
