Auslan

Over the past fortnight, students across all year levels have made impressive strides in their Auslan studies:
Foundation (Prep): Students explored the importance of the Deaf community, learning about hearing aids and the vital role of sign language. They have begun signing simple sentences regarding their families, such as ‘I love my mum’ and ‘I have a brother.’
Years 1& 2: The focus has shifted to interactive communication. Students practiced asking and answering questions about their families, specifically focusing on the sentence structure for ‘Do you have a sister?’ and ‘How many sisters do you have?’
How many?
Years 3-6: Our senior students have been working on comprehensive self-introduction. This includes signing their name, age, family members, and personal hobbies. To demonstrate their progress, students filmed their introductions on their Chromebooks to share with their Auslan teacher.

We encourage you to ask your child to show you their video or demonstrate some of the signs they have mastered so far!
