Green class this term has been building classroom expectations while actively engaging in their learning. It is wonderful to see so many students participating enthusiastically and demonstrating positive attitudes towards their learning. We have also been participating in Crunch and Sip, during which students enjoy fruit during our learning break. This program has many benefits, including improving concentration, mental and physical performance, and overall wellbeing.
In English, we have begun reading the book Brother Moon by Maree McCarthy Yoelu, exploring how it connects to various aspects of literacy. The class recently developed a poster to illustrate the different symbols in the book, helping students understand the meaning of symbolism. Students have shown creativity and collaboration during this activity, sharing ideas and supporting one another.

In Mathematics, students have been learning to read, represent, compare, and order numbers, with Stage 3 extending to millions. They have explored number patterns, counting sequences, and used place value to solve problems. In Data, students collected and recorded information, created tables and graphs, and learned to interpret results. Hands-on activities, games, and rotations supported them in applying their learning and explaining their thinking. Several students demonstrated particular confidence in explaining their reasoning and exploring number patterns independently.

During HSIE, Stage 2 students explored Australia’s diverse places and environments through the book Are We There Yet? by Alison Lester. They followed Grace’s family journey on maps, discussed natural and human features, and connected these to their own travel experiences. Students also practised geographical skills by completing comprehension tasks and designing their own camper trailer plans. Many students showed enthusiasm for these tasks, contributing thoughtful ideas and enjoying hands-on learning.
