Maths
Over the next two weeks in maths students will learn how to identify factors and multiples using materials and arrays. They will identify multiples of a number using the distributive property and identify factors of multiples using algorithms. Students will be participating in daily maths fluency activities to increase their tables knowledge.
Literacy
In writing students will continue to focus on narratives. They will watch short, animated clips to analyse internal and external character traits and practice introducing a character within their writing by being descriptive. They will also explore ways to describe a setting.
In reading students will be learning about natural disasters. They will look at how bushfires, floods and droughts impact people and the environment. How people can prepare and prevent natural disasters and what government and non-government agencies can do to assist in a natural disaster. Through Exploring the continent, they will look at how Blaxland, Lawson and Wentworth made it possible for colonists to expand inland. Students will look at the impact explorers had on Aboriginal people and how the Aboriginal people helped and hindered the exploration of Australia.
Wellbeing
In the next two weeks students will be learning about emotional literacy. They will explore what stress is, the situations that make them stressed and how to manage stressful situations appropriately.
