February 2026

If your child brought headphones home at the end of 2025 or they were broken last year, please send a pair in ASAP. All students will need them for NAPLAN that commences in the coming weeks.
Literacy

In Literacy, we are beginning an exciting Australian adventure with Off We Go Around Australia by Roland Harvey. This book brings together four of his travel stories and takes us on a journey around Australia, from beaches and the Top End to Western Australia and the bush, as we explore caves, go surfing and kayaking, camp under the stars and discover life underground. Roland Harvey is well known for his detailed, humorous illustrations, and we’ll be looking closely at how his pictures help tell the story and add extra meaning for readers.
Numeracy
Over the coming weeks our students will be learning how numbers can be combined and separated to make new amounts, helping them understand how addition and subtraction are connected. We are exploring part-part-whole thinking, fact families and using number lines to show that addition and subtraction are inverse operations. Students are also building quick and efficient mental strategies using their knowledge of addition and subtraction facts to 20.
Science

Things are heating up in Science this term! Students will be identifying different sources of heat energy and learning that heat can be generated in a variety of ways, as well as discovering how it transfers from warmer objects to cooler ones through conduction, convection and radiation. They will also explore how temperature measures how hot or cold something is, using thermometers to record changes in degrees Celsius when heat moves from one object to another.
Wellbeing
Emotions are front and centre in Wellbeing this term as we dive into understanding how we and others experience them! Students will explore what emotions look and feel like in their bodies, notice how body language can give clues about how someone is feeling, and practise asking others about their emotions in a kind and respectful way. They will also begin to recognise their own emotional triggers and name the feelings that come up in different situations.
Kitchen Garden
3A whipped up a delicious Cucumber and Tomato Salad with Mint, Zucchini and Corn Fritters, and a sweet Apple and Rhubarb Crumble. Using fresh silverbeet, mint, cucumbers, tomatoes, apples and rhubarb picked straight from the garden, students turned their harvest into some very tasty creations. Meanwhile, 3B and 3C got busy making homemade pizzas, adding their own tasty toppings and proudly enjoying what they had created together.

Meet the Teachers Afternoon
A big thank you to all the families who could make it to our Meet the Teacher afternoon! It was so fun to see students working on their "I am a proud Peacock because..." displays with their loved ones, filling the classroom with the biggest smiles.

We hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
