YEAR 11 KEY INFORMATION: WEEK 6

Swimming Carnival - Leading the Way

As we head into the Swimming Carnival on Tuesday at Woree Pool, I would like to acknowledge the important role our Year 11 students play within the College. This year, our Year 11 theme is Leading the Way, and events such as the Swimming Carnival provide a valuable opportunity for students to demonstrate this through their attendance, conduct, and House spirit.

Showing up, supporting their peers, and engaging positively throughout the day reflects the leadership we encourage as students move into the senior years. I look forward to seeing our Year 11 students modelling pride, respect, and participation as they set the tone for the younger year levels.

Starting Each Day Well

As Year 11 students continue to establish strong senior school routines, punctual attendance at Pastoral Group each day is an important expectation. Pastoral Group provides time for key information to be shared, well-being check-ins to occur, and clear expectations to be set for the day ahead.

Monday mornings are Community Pastoral Group for Year 11, which helps set the tone for the week as a cohort. The remaining days focus on building consistency, connection and organisation.

We appreciate the continued support of families in ensuring students arrive on time, as this plays a key role in developing responsibility and supporting a settled, focused start to each school day.

Year 11 Mentors in Action

I would like to recognise the efforts of our Year 11 Mentors for the positive role they played at last week’s Year 7 Big Night Out. The mentors approached their responsibilities thoughtfully, contributing in the lead up to the event and on the night itself. Their support of younger students and willingness to take on responsibility reflect the positive example Year 11 continues to provide within the College community.

Shoe Guide

At the College, students are required to adhere to the uniform and personal grooming guide. We want to support families, students, and teachers in understanding specific requirements, particularly for sports shoes. We know students are currently wearing shoes in the 'not suitable' section of the graphic below.

To provide clarity, we have listed the main shoes worn by students with their sports uniforms that require fixing and shoes must meet expectations for the start of Term 2. This provides you and your family time to make changes to comply with the uniform guideline outlined in the College Diary under Uniforms: Sport shoes - Low cut, supportive, lace-up, all-purpose shoes for running with a suitable grip. Colour scheme should be discreet. Skate shoes and other flat-soled shoes are not acceptable.

The shoes shown in the graphic below are examples we frequently see; they are not the ONLY shoes not permitted. If you are unsure of the correct shoes, please send a picture or ask your child to speak with the Head of Year for clarification. Uniform infringement consequences will come into play at the commencement of Term 2. We appreciate your support in making it very clear what we expect regarding appropriate footwear at the College.
