From the Classroom

News from The Seniors
It’s been a busy and exciting start to Term 4! It’s been lovely to see everyone back and showing our Positive Behaviour Expectations through their effort, teamwork, and positive attitude.
In English, we’ve started reading The One and Only Ivan. We’ve been learning about authority in texts — looking at who gives us information and how we know if we can trust it. Students have been making connections between the character Ivan and real facts about gorillas, noticing how the author helps us see the world from Ivan’s point of view.
In Maths, students have been working in groups to research different ideas for an end-of-year celebration. Each group investigated one event, finding out about possible venues, activities, and costs. They then calculated how much the experience would be per person. To finish, groups will create persuasive posters encouraging the senior students to vote for their celebration idea.
Middles News
Once again all the students have come back from the break ready to learn and excited to be back at school!
In Numeracy, Middle A has been working on Addition and Subtraction and we will be focusing on this topic for the next few weeks. We have also been examining Transformation and Time. Please feel free to ask your child to tell you the time as they look at any analogue clocks located around your house!
over the past fortnight, Middle B has been focused on Location (grid references and mapping) and Data (graphing and tables). If your child starts burying items and creating treasure maps at least you will know why!
In English, Middle A have begun their new novel, 200 Minutes of Danger. Students will focus on narrative structure, parallel storylines and inferring. Students are really enjoying this text as it includes dangerous situations, mythical creatures and villains!
Middle B have also begun their new text, The Gentle Genius of Trees. This is a beautiful book that examines the importance of trees; how they help each other and how they produce food.
Our topic this term is The Moon, Earth and Stars. We have started to investigate the importance of the Sun and Moon and how they help the oceans, tell time, how they assist in producing food and how they help keep us alive.
Juniors Tell All
Welcome back to the last term of 2025! Everyone has come back excited for all of their learning. This fortnight, students have been introduced to their Inquiry Unit 'Earth In Space' where they will learn about the Solar System and how Earth is similar and different to other planets. The Junior Unit worked together this week to learn about how the Earth orbits the sun, recreating the different speeds that planets orbit the sun. Students then created their own visual representations of their new learning.
In Maths, Junior B have been working on their Fractions Unit, representing fractions in different ways. One way students represented their fractions was in creating caterpillar's inspired by the famous book 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar'. The whole class have been doing a fantastic job in this new learning area.
In English, Junior A have been looking at connecting our lives to the context of a story through the books 'All I Want for Christmas is Rain' and 'Lets Eat'. Junior B have been looking at how we can take better care of our planet through the class text 'The Mess That We Made'. Students have been using this text to learn about cause and effect as well as different verb groups and have practised expanding sentences.
