Grade 5/6

What an exciting couple of weeks we have had in Grade 5/6! An absolute highlight of the year was the whole-school Colour Run, where students thoroughly enjoyed completing an obstacle course and getting blasted with bright colours! Well done to our students who raised over $100- Livana, Evie, Anakie and Kahn! Not only is this amazing for our fundraising efforts, but it also landed these students the coveted job of sliming a teacher of their choice (me)! Of course, we had to join in on the fun and slime these students too! What a fabulous day- thank you to Megan & Carly for organising the event, the Grade 5/6s for their positive attitude and participation, and the families for supporting this!

In class we have been investigating and really delving deeper into the term's content! We are analysing and classifying quotes from our whole class text, Rivet Boy, as different forms of literary devices within English. In Maths, students have explored rounding, including within financial contexts, and with numbers including decimals. Please encourage your child to share with you what they've been learning, and show you through their weekly homework tasks!

Humanities has seen us exploring Australia's history pre- and post-Federation, allowing students to analyse the past and create descriptive timelines. Within Science, students have continued to explore matter, including testing the viscosity of different liquids. We conducted an experiment comparing the viscosity of three different liquids- honey, custard and shampoo. With the left-over custard, we made mini-deconstructed trifles, which were an absolute hit!
