Grade 4/5

What a Busy and Colourful Fortnight it has been in the 4/5 classroom! A major highlight was our whole-school Colour Run — an event that was eagerly awaited and worth the excitement! The students had an amazing time running through the obstacle course while being showered with bright colours at every turn. It was wonderful to see so many students completing lap after lap, cheering each other on and showing great teamwork and enthusiasm. The day was filled with laughter, cheering, and of course, the highlight — Miss McCombe getting slimed!

A big congratulations to Memphis and Claude, who each raised over $100 — an outstanding effort! Thank you to Megan and Carly for organising such a fun and vibrant event, and to all our families for their support, donations, and for helping students come prepared for an afternoon of colour and fun.

In Literacy, we have been learning about connectives — words that help link ideas in our writing. Students have been experimenting with additive connectives (such as also and furthermore) and contrast connectives (like however and but). It has been great to see everyone using these confidently in their sentences.

In Maths, we’ve been focusing on reading analogue clocks. Each day, students have had plenty of opportunities to practise, and their confidence and accuracy have grown so much! We’ve also been looking at data and graphs, learning how to read and interpret information from different types of charts — an important skill for everyday life.

In Science, we’ve had lots of fun with hands-on experiments! Students created carbon dioxide in water and observed what happened when sultanas were added — they loved watching them dance up and down! We’ve also been exploring materials, learning to identify natural and man-made materials and discussing their different properties and uses.
