After completing the collaborative build of their balsa wood aeroplanes, students flew them at the end of Term 3. In Term 4, they will be introduced to the equations to determine the forces of flight. Students will use this framework to analyse and explain why their aircraft flew as it did. With reference to the equations and the science of flight, students will investigate alternative aircraft designs, before deciding upon modifications they will make to their plane. After flying modified aircraft, they will analyse the flight features to consider whether the changes had the desired effect. Each group will then have an opportunity to paint the plane, to add even more individuality to the design.
