Robotics

Year level: Prep

During Term 4, students participating in Prep Robotics and Coding Innovation will explore the use of the Dash robots. Students will learn how to steer and control the robots using the Go and Wonder iPad apps. They will also learn how to record sounds, change the light colours and create challenges for their Dash robots to complete. Prep students enjoyed learning the Beebots in Term 3 and are now ready to transfer and build on their skills in an engaging and interactive way to finish off their first year of schooling!

Year level: 3

Students in Year 3 Robotics and Coding Innovation will continue their journey of coding using the Scratch interface. Students have begun creating a personalised maze style video game and have chosen their own sprites (characters) that they have coded to move in different directions. Currently, they are now creating a variety of maze backdrops that will increase the level of difficulty as each stage is passed. Students have the option to personalise their maze games with obstacles, collecting objects on the way for bonus points, and resetting to the beginning if their character touches the maze wall. Once Maze games are complete, students will explore the Makey-Makey kits to create their very own video game controller.
