EDUCATION

Introducing New Staff
I teach Mathematics, General Science, and VCE Biology.
Before joining Surf Coast, I worked as a school laboratory technician where I spent my days creating and demonstrating science experiments to high school students. Before that, I completed a degree in Zoology and had the incredible experience of working at an animal sanctuary where I cared for native wildlife and shared my love of animals and the natural world with visitors.
What I have enjoyed so far and continue to look forward to is meeting and getting to know the range of young people at this school and seeing their curiosity and confidence grow in the classroom. It’s been great to be part of such a welcoming and supportive school community, and I look forward to continuing to share my passion for science with students.

I have just taken on the role as Student Wellbeing Leader in the year 9-12 cohort, as part of the Wellbeing Team at SCSC.
For the past 3 years before coming to SCSC, I worked at Newcomb Secondary College, as a part of their Wellbeing Team, as well as a Private Practitioner in my own business one day a week as a Mental Health Social Worker.
I am looking forward to getting to work with vibrant young people and sharing my knowledge and skills in the Mental Health space, as well as working alongside enthusiastic colleagues.

I am in the Education Support role with the 7/8/9 year level focus.
Before this role I have an extensive background in childcare and also have a side business in Holistic coaching and Energy healing. I also previously ran The Jungle Body with Kat B a dance fitness class with the focus on empowering women to feel confident in themselves.
I am looking forward to working with the students of Surf Coast in hoping I make a positive impact in not only their educational journey but also their path leading into adulthood.

I’m a year 7/8 music and drama teacher, as well as the supervisor for several of our incredible year 7 school bands.
I come from working as a CRT at various schools around regional VIC, but I’m very keen to have my first teaching position be right here at Surf Coast Secondary College.
Coming from an arts background I’m so excited for the community to see the brilliant talent of our school bands at the upcoming music night on the 19th of November! And hopefully we’ll have a group of young performers ready to show off their fantastic acting for audiences soon.

English Excellence Program
Our Year 12 students took part in the final session of our English Excellence program.
Throughout the year, they’ve benefited from the expert guidance of former VCAA Chief Examiner Ross Huggard, who today shared final strategies to help students tackle the upcoming English exam with confidence.
The program is one of many support opportunities our students have embraced this year, alongside externally marked trial exams, Wednesday afternoon sessions, after-school writing practice, and revision lectures.
We’re so proud of our Year 12 students for their dedication and thank our English team for their ongoing support during this busy time.
