Dear Families,

We had the most fabulous Italian Day, last Monday. Each Year Signora Vozzo organises new and exciting activities for us to participate in and celebrate our  learning of the Italian language and culture. This Year we all had fun learning about soccer and for some of us it was learning new skills and for some fine tuning their skills. The students also participated in art activities, a really fun Kahoot and our dramatised assembly in the morning. Each class was able to present their role play, conversation or scene in excellent Italian and we all felt as though we were transported to Italy. We congratulate Sheihka and Samuel for hosting our assembly in Italian! Thank you to Mr Millane for helping with the logistics of the day and to all the community for getting involved. A big shout out to Bec, Dani, Ryan, V, Louisa and Gretel for collecting the delicious pizzas and gelato.

On Thursday night we had our famous school disco. So much fun was had by all and it was wonderful seeing so many glittery, shiny and sparkly outfits! It was exciting for our Preps to attend their first disco and a tinge of sadness as our Year 6s celebrated their last disco, dancing the night away. It was a bit of a moment watching them all in a big inclusive group dancing to Forever Young! A huge thank you to all our helpers and of course our P & F leaders Jez, Holly and Mel for so much work behind the scenes making the make it the great night it was. To all of those that helped, thank you and the hotdogs and ice-creams were enjoyed by all.

Our  2026 Preps settled into their first Orientation beautifully as they started in two smaller groups on Wednesday and Thursday last week. Thank you to Mrs Erica and The P&F for the morning tea for the parents and welcoming them into St Mary’s. It was great hearing the buzz from the staffroom. Mrs Borgese supported by Mrs Le Hunt had the Prep room set up beautifully with many exciting activities and learning opportunities. We look forward to seeing them again on the 6th November. The second hand uniform shop will be available before and after the session.

We have transitioned to full Summer Uniform and the children must have a hat, as per our Sun Smart Policy for both recess and lunch times. You can purchase a hat through the office if required. Thank you for ensuring that your children are wearing the correct uniform, as it is important to wear it respectfully and with pride, as it represents our St Mary’s community.

Miss Raffaele is well underway leading the organisation of our school magazine. We can’t wait to see the end product at the end of the Year. We thank all the staff for their work with this loved memorabilia of the year.

Our Year 5s and 6s are preparing for Camp Rumbug and we thank Mrs Mason for leading the camp and all the organisation that goes with this important role.  Camp Rumbug is always lots of fun and we can’t wait to hear about their adventures on their return.

Next Friday 31st October we celebrate World Teacher’s Day and at St Mary’s we celebrate World Teaching Staff Day. We are blessed to have our hard working staff. Each of them goes above and beyond in their various roles and always with a high level of  professional and wanting the best outcomes for each student. In education we continue to learn each day alongside our students and their families and this is a privilege.

We are all getting excited about our St Mary’s Family Fun Day on Saturday 15th November, please read the P&F page for further updates. The Year 6s have lots of fun activities planned alongside the P&F activities. It promises to be a great day and all funds go towards purchasing interactive panels for our classrooms.

Yesterday I had some special visitors, who shared their writing about Lady Bugs with me. I learnt that with each year a lady's bug gains a dot. If I were a lady bug I would have lots of dots!

Take care and wishing God's blessings and peace upon each of you.
