Year 9 Science - Highlights of Term 1

The Year 9 Science students have had a jam-packed Term 1, learning about Ecosystems (with a focus on our local Environment) and the Nervous and Endocrine Systems. As part of our work in Ecosystems, students went on a local excursion to UL Daly Reserve to explore the types of organisms that make up our local food webs. The highlight of this unit of work was a visit from Wild Action Zoo, where students got up-close and personal with some of Australia's amazing fauna, including Echidnas, Koalas, Sugar-Gliders, Crocodiles and the critically endangered Mountain Pygmy Possum. During our work on the Nervous and Endocrine Systems students made models of neurons, learnt about the different parts of the brain and carried out a dissection of a sheep's brain.
