Principals Update

- Sarah Rose, Principal

It has been such a busy term of school and I've no doubt everyone is ready to wind down and re-charge.

Our Focus Weeks focused on positives behaviours and expectations and I again thank our parent community for the support at home with these initiatives.  Our student merit system has taken its next step forward with students now able to 'cash-in' their merit points for tangible items with display cases of available items in each of the Sub-Schools. This program will continue to expand as we look for local business support by way of donation of vouchers for the highest level of merit point accumulation.

Other highlights for me have been the first whole-school assembly for the year - there's nothing better than seeing the entire school community together celebrating what is great about GSC and witnessing our new student leadership team taking the lead in running the event. The College Investiture Evening was a lovely event as always, and the range of excursions, camps, sporting activities, and lunchtime and after school clubs that we've already seen our students participate in leaves me no doubt that they're experiencing a rich teaching and learning program, coupled with extra-curricular activities that cater to a broad range of interests and abilities.

On Friday last week we said goodbye to Tracey Rigby, who had been our school crossing supervisor for 14 years.  We wish her well in her retirement.  Here are a few photos from Friday afternoon.

As I look ahead, Term 2 is always a really busy term of activities.  Early in the Term we will commemorate ANZAC Day with our whole-school assembly on the 24th April.  The College will also be involved in both the Mt Macedon Dawn Service and Gisborne Service on ANZAC Day.  We will also have our whole-school Athletics Carnival, the Yr 11 Debutante Ball's, many more camps, excursions and sporting teams out and about the GAT for our VCE students and our Year 10s heading out on Work Experience.

I wish everyone a restful and safe break.  Should you need wellbeing support over the break, please send the resources provided later in this edition.

Kind Regards,

Sarah Rose
