Mission & Faith Life

Year 7 Retreat Day

In Week 6, the Year 7 students participated in a Faith Retreat Day, led by the 24:7 Youth Ministry. The theme for the retreat was ‘Community in Christ.’  The students had a fantastic day of group discussions and games, and reflection upon the different communities to which they belong. Students learnt about God’s gift of family, schools, and the Church, which support students to become the best people they can be. The students were guided to understand their responsibility to serve those around them with the love of Christ.

A huge 'thank you' to the 24:7 Youth Ministry team who presented an engaging and exciting retreat, and to all the staff involved. Thank you also to the Serpentine Jarrahdale Community Recreation Centre for the use of their fantastic facilities on the day. Finally, a special thanks to the Year 7 students who participated in the retreat day with respect, focus and open hearts and minds.

Holy Week

During the season of Lent, all students learn about and reflect upon Holy Week and the Easter Triduum – tracing the final steps of Jesus, his suffering, death and resurrection.

In Week 9 all students will participate in a Stations of the Cross liturgy.

“The Stations of the Cross is one of the most simple, yet powerful, way to prayerfully walk alongside Jesus and encounter him like never before.” - Dynamic Catholic

St Patrick's Day

Sunday 17 March is the feast day of St Patrick.

St Patrick committed his life to spreading the Gospel in Ireland, so much so that St Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland. His feast day is widely celebrated in Australia because of the many Irish immigrants who came to Australia and desired to preserve the traditions and customs of their homeland.

Year of Prayer

This year Pope Francis inaugurated 2024 as aYear of PrayerThe Year of Prayer is dedicated “to rediscovering the great value and absolute need for prayer, prayer in personal life, in the life of the Church, prayer in the world.” The Year of Prayer "is not a Year marked with particular initiatives; rather, it is a privileged time in which to rediscover the value of prayer and the need for daily prayer in our Christian life."

Suggestion to help our students to find time to pray: Go for a quiet walk and pray.

Consider embracing an active form of prayer by going for a quiet walk. This practice is particularly meaningful for those who find stillness challenging and prefer movement. Walking in solitude, amidst nature or your local environment, allows you to connect with God in a dynamic way. As you step forward, let each movement be a prayer, reflecting on the themes of faith, sacrifice, and divine revelation that Lent brings to the forefront. This form of prayerful walking combines physical activity with spiritual introspection, offering a unique path to engage with God's presence during this solemn season.

Pope Francis' Monthly Prayer Intention

In March, we pray for the new martyrs.

The Holy Father encourages prayers for those who risk their lives for the Gospel in various parts of the world, and inflame the Church with their courage and missionary enthusiasm.
