Our Inquiry question will involve critical and creative thinking in the area of History when we ask: ‘How has life changed over time?’. We will be exploring students’ personal history, their family history and the history of our school and local community through questions such as:

  • What is history? How can we find out about history?
  • What is my personal history?
  • What is my family history?
  • How is my family history the same or different to others?
  • How has my family life changed or stayed the same over time?
  • What is the same and different about Hampton Primary School now and in the past?
  • What was school and life like when my grandparents were my age?
  • What is the same and different about the local Hampton community now and in the past?
  • What objects, toys, and games have changed or stayed the same over time?
  • How have changes in technology and transport shaped daily life?

In addition to valuable and engaging classroom experiences, students will be given hands-on opportunities to investigate these questions by participating in the Rippon Lea Estate 'If These Walls Could Task' excursion and the Hampton Local History Walk. Students will involve their extended families by conducting interviews and analysing the similarities and differences between then and now.
