Grade 3-6:

Reading/Writing:

Grades 3, 4, 5, and 6 have had an exciting start to Term 2 at Waverley Meadows Primary School and have been enjoying a variety of different learning activities. Throughout the past two weeks, the students have been able to learn the importance of ANZAC Day and how we remember the ANZACS in Australia.

Grades 3-6 have been learning how to write up a procedural report during writing lessons, focusing on writing a recipe on how to make Anzac biscuits. Grade 3/4A and 4/5A were lucky enough to cook Anzac biscuits in the kitchen last week, and they were able to use what they had learned in the classroom and take it into the kitchen. Each student was able to write up their own recipe making sure to include a Title, Aim/Goal, Equipment, Ingredients and Steps. All students thoroughly enjoyed this process and worked very well together. Whilst in the kitchen, the students had the opportunity to work as a team to mix all the ingredients together and both bake and eat the ANZAC biscuits.
