Thoughts from our Principal - Mr Geoff McManus
Our Attendance Assembly for Term One 2024 was held today and the positive proportion of children receiving certificates and vouchers affirms and reinforces the importance that our children, families and staff place on attending school EVERDAY!
100% Attendance and a voucher - 46 children (33% of the school population!)
95% Attendance - 16 children
90% Attendance - 36 children.
Overall - 98 children out of 140 (70% of the school population!)
As a school that actively promotes and encourages positive attendance to ensure growth in academic outcomes and positive well-being, being present at school every day intentionally sets our children up for success. Well done to all of the awardees and, as an example of this positive impact on learning, I look forward to announcing some wonderful news about our 2024 NAPLAN results in the coming weeks!
Thank you to all of those patriotic children who managed to attend the Dawn Service and ANZAC Day Parade in Glen Innes. While ANZAC Day did fall over the holiday break, we still managed to have an impressive roll-up of students and staff that supported such an iconic and important annual national remembrance day.
Congratulations to our Stage 3 children on their exceptional representation of our great school at the Opening Ceremony of the 2024 Celtic Festival! The venue is not quite ideal outside the Town Hall for the proper resonance of our high-quality singing, yet even in the absence of Mrs Core, our children performed wonderfully. Thank you to Mrs Condrick and Mr Withers for their leadership and coordination.
Winter uniform is now in play for the next few months. Thank you to those families that have sourced BLACK school shoes for their children to ensure that our personal presentation is a tidy and suitable reflection of our great school. A quick reminder also to our girls to only wear the tights UNDERNEATH the pinafore or the pants if it is too cold. The tights are not to be worn on their own with the blue skivvy. There are four different styles of pants at Carelles for families to choose from. Pop in and talk to Sue and if she needs to order in another size or two, she is always happy to oblige.
Advance warning that two Pupil Free days are coming up on Thursday 6 June and Friday 7 June. The school will not be open to students on those two days as teachers participate in professional learning that continues to grow and develop the evidence-proven pedagogical capacity of our team of skilful helpful adults. Note these two days intentionally “tack on” to the King’s Birthday public holiday on Monday 10 June, so that families may choose to have a short break without impacting school attendance.
Finally, Happy Mother's Day to all of our wonderful Mums, Grandmas and Carers for their devotion and hard work with our beautiful children. Our kids are like mirrors, they reflect everything that is put into them. While our team of skilful helpful adults do the best they can from 9 to 3 each weekday, they also need the love, care and devotion of their families to set them up for success and future positive citizenship. Enjoy your special day and thank you to all of the family members who came along on Thursday to visit our classrooms and enjoy a hot drink and a scone.
Until next time.
May God go with you.
