SRI - News

This coming Monday (9th December) will be the last SRI session for the year and we will celebrate Christmas with some games and craft. Thank you to the families whose children have participated this year. We have enjoyed getting to know them, listening to their stories and together learning about the Bible and what Christians believe. We wish our Grade 6 students all the best as they transition to high school next year – you will be missed! Our hope is to continue to offer SRI sessions in 2025, details will be sent out early next year.

Wishing everyone a very happy Christmas and a safe and restful holiday time.

Cathie Clarke, Andy May and Peter Warwick

PS: Special thanks to Miss K for her hospitality in allowing us to use her room.

Rosanna Primary Uniform Swap!

Do you have a pile of RPS uniforms you don’t know what to do with?

Would you like to swap them for different sizes or items?

The come along after school on Friday 13th December to the art room afterschool, and swap your uniforms.

How will it work?

  1. Bring your unneeded uniform items along. We will accept all uniform items. They don’t have to have a RPS logo.
  2. Uniforms must be clean, and in good condition.
  3. Our helpers will quality check the items and give you tokens for swapping
    • one token per item donated
    • 4 tokens for the specialty polar fleece jackets
  4. Have a look through the items and exchange your token(s) for an item(s) of uniform
  5. If you would like to purchase more items than you have donated, then items will be also available for sale as well.
    • $5 per item (worth one token)
    • $20 for the polar fleece jackets (worth 4 tokens)
    • This is keeping in line with the existing prices the uniform shop charges for second hand goods

A special note: we seem to always need the larger uniform sizes (size 12 and up). If you have any of these items to swap, please bring them along. We will also take donations of these larger sizes too. So if you don’t want to participate in the swap, but want to clean out your wardrobes, then please leave them at the office.

Swapping Terms and Conditions

  • Please only bring items that are in good used condition. No rips or stains and please make sure they are clean.
  • Donating an item for the event does not guarantee a swap in return, although we do have vouchers for next swap if you cant find anything you need.
  • Swap depends on availability of items for swapping.
  • Swaps cannot be returned after the event.
  • Swap tokens have no financial redemption value.
  • All left over uniform items will be retained by the school for use in the second hand uniform stall.

Any Qs? You can email Jackie.arbuckle@yahoo.com.au

We hope to see you there.

Chicken Update

It’s been a while since I’ve done a chicken update. Recently at the last working bee, we replaced the roof on the chicken coop because it was about 10 years old and beginning to degrade. I managed to get some free roofing to use so we just needed the people power to install it. Glenys was a fabulous project manager. Even more recently, I got a free chicken feeder off Facebook. So now we have one for their seed and another for their protein pellets. This means the chickens can access all the food they need through the day as well as foraging in the pen.

We have completed the roster of parents to look after the chickens over the summer holidays however, if you are interested in learning more about them, and potentially letting them out and putting them away on weekends, Jackie will hold some info sessions about that in Term 1, so keep your eyes peeled for that early next year.

In the meantime over the summer holidays, if you have excess vegetable scraps and want to bring them up to the school, the chickens will love to eat them. The more veggies they eat, the healthier they are. The only things they can’t eat are potatoes and the onion family and they’re not a huge fan of citrus. They love anything green: lettuce, spinach, beans, broccoli. They love corn as well. They also really love weeds so if you do any weeding over the summer, then feel free to bring a box up for the chickens too. You can throw weeds straight over the wooden fence for them. I’m looking forward to connecting with some more families to add to the Chicken Roster next year, but until then have a great summer break.
