A note from Mr Jackson

TheirCare Congratulations

Congratulations to Tanja at Theircare who has received recognition within the TheirCare team. The managers of TheirCare noted that they had received exceptional feedback about her service and it’s clear that her dedication and hard work are making a significant impact in the lives of the students who attend the program. The management team clearly acknowledged that Tanja’s excellence in building relationships and maintaining great communication with families is clearly evident. Well Done Tanja!

Thank You to 2024 Volunteers

According to Volunteers Australia, the average person spends approximately 150 hours each year volunteering. This same valuable contribution underpins life and learning at Rosanna Primary School. Volunteers are seen in corridors reading with students, climbing stairs to buses on the way to excursions, attending School Council meetings, as well as pruning and clearing drains during Working Bees. Many of our volunteers our unseen. They attend to our gardens and lawns and complete many other tasks. Every contribution known and unknown is greatly received and was celebrated today at the volunteer morning tea hosted by staff. It proved an important opportunity for teachers and educational support staff to express their gratitude for all who have supported the school in so many diverse ways.

Teacher Placements in 2025

The volunteer morning tea was an opportunity to introduce parents to the staff structure for the coming year. As I have noted previously, Victoria is facing a significant shortage of teachers and we're fortunate to have such a capable and collaborative team in 2025.

I acknowledge the many years of contribution that Shannon Mitchell has had as Learning Specialist here at Rosanna Primary School. Her leadership over the COVID period and throughout our previous Strategic Plan, specifically in the area of mathematics in through the implementation of professional learning, has had significant impact on the teaching and learning experiences of staff and students.

From 2025, Heidi Yule will take on the Learning Specialist role along with Eli Phillips. We look forward to them both leading in the areas of English and Mathematics continuing to improve our teaching practice and student learning and wellbeing outcomes.

We are confident that these teaching and learning teams will be supportive of the diverse needs of students.

Students and teachers will continue to be supported by our Education Support Staff. Michelle Woollacott, Rhonda Lewis, Sharon Henderson, Lara Hunter, Sharon Hunter and Zoe Brook will be discovered in classrooms, in the First Aid room, the library and out on excursions! Their presence is both valued and valuable.

We are grateful that both Ally Stokes as Office Manager, and Kim Brydson-Dixon, as Business Manager, will continue next year. They both bring an injection of energy and capability that ensure deadlines are met, challenges resolved and the school functions smoothly.

We will farewell some important contributors at the end of year assembly. As noted previously Shannon will be on leave in 2025. She will be joined on leave by Cleste Watts. We are thankful that Mel Crispe has been able to support the 4/5/6 team and that Lucy Jackson has come on board recently to support 3/4T. We are thankful for the contribution of Jackie Bacarella as an Education Support staff person in 2024.

Meet the Teacher

Monday 13 December 2024

There is a layer of excitement brewing for Monday’s meet the teacher experience. We are again thankful for those who have spent hours considering the classes that have been allocated for students. We are sure there will be lots of excitement and perhaps a few tears as we begin to move from our 2024 classes into these new learning spaces. Starting with new faces and in new grades provides an opportunity for students to build a layer of resilience and social capability as they move through the school.

Soiree Invitation

Thursday 12 December at 3:45pm

A reminder to parents and students who have been strumming, plucking and striking their instruments over the year that we have put aside next Thursday afternoon as our annual soiree. It is a chance for people to celebrate the achievement of all who have wrestled an instrument over the year. Look forward to seeing you in Chandler Hall for a harmonious experience!

FORPS Picnic on the Oval

Friday 13 December

All are welcome to bring a rug and relax over a BBQ sausage or order Paella by Sunday on Qkr! to enjoy a special night out. The weather looks great! It will be a simple evening in a busy windup to the year.

The Big Day Out at the Movies

Tuesday 17 December

If you have yet to book a seat on the Big Day Out at the Movies for your child then please do so on QKR! as soon as possible .... tickets are to be booked tonight! We do not want your child to miss out! A reminder that students are encouraged to bring along a board game for an afternoon of fun!

Attendance Update Request

Friday 13 December

As we prepare to finalise our attendance data for the semester, we are eager to ensure that it is accurate. This week we will send home letters to families of students with unexplained absences. These are times that students have been recorded as ‘unaccounted for’ in the morning or the afternoon periods or perhaps the whole day. We encourage parents to offer an explanation for the absence and return the information to school by Friday 13 December 2024.

Planning Week

Next Week

There will be some minor disruptions to the normal class routines next week as staff meet in their 2025 teams to plan and prepare for the coming year. A special thanks to our specialist teachers who will support students over this time.
