Our School Houses

At Ceres Primary School we have 2 Houses:

Kanyul Kangaroos (Green)

Lok-Lok Eagles (Yellow)

All students and staff are allocated to a House for their years at Ceres PS and through various school activities they have the opportunity to earn tokens for their House.  Family members are assigned to the same house.

Student's houses can be viewed on their Compass profile and are also attached here:

The Wathaurong Aboriginal Cooperative provided names for each House and the corresponding animal, providing a connection to the Wathaurong people as the traditional custodians of the land on which our students learn and play, and creating opportunities for connections and learning of the rich language of this area.

Students earn their tokens for their house by displaying the school values both out in the yard and in the classroom. Each fortnight at assembly, the house captains update on the school on the house token leaderboard.

Lok-Lok

Welcome back, Eagles!

Hope everyone had an awesome holidays and stayed nice and active over the break. We can't wait to get cracking into 2025 in a year that we will hopefully go 'Back to Back' in the trophy!

We would like to welcome all new Lok Lok students who have joined the team and we hope you're feeling right at home in the yellow colours.

Speaking of yellow colours... House Athletics day is fast approaching! Make sure you have your yellow kits ready to go in what will be a HUGE day. Kanyul got the chocolates in last years event but we have no doubt we are up for the big challenge this year!

New Lok Lok Eagles Bodhi O'Brien & Louie Wright have been burning up the running track in preparation whilst veterans Grace O'Connor and Esther Davies will be sure to show their experience on the day!

Can't wait for a big year ahead, Go Lok Lok!

Remember, Eagles Soar As One!

Kanyul

2025, what an exciting year ahead we have coming up!

Welcome back to all Kanyul Kangaroo and Lok-Lok Eagle competitors.

Respect, Resilience and Responsibility are our new school values at CPS. The 3 R's Kanyul team members will be displayed throughout our school events this year with pride, gratitude, and excitement. We are also 100% sure that these values would have been displayed over the summer holidays. Let's hear about how some of our leaders from team Kanyul were superstars over our break or at the beginning of our Term 1.

How did Brayden from F/1K display Respect in the holidays?

Can you think of a time when you showed kindness or respect to someone? What did you do?

“I can not think of anything in the holidays, but one of my friends in my classroom had no one to play with outside so I said that he could play with me.”

Brayden that is so kind, keep being a great friend!

How did Luke from 2/3J display Resilience in the holidays?

Can you tell me about a time when things got tough, but you kept going? What helped you stay motivated?

"I fell over on the holidays onto my arm and nearly had to get a cast, knowing that everything was going to be okay, and that I could bounce back is how I kept motivated!”

Great bouncing back Luke!

How did Ella from 4/5/6J display Responsibility in the holidays?

Can you share a time when you took care of something important or helped out without being asked?

"I cleaned my room for my mum without being asked because it was really, really messy and I think it filled up her bucket!”

Well done, Ella, keep it up!

Thank you for reading our first Kanyul write up for 2025! We hope everyone had a lovely and refreshing break. Bring on a year of fun times and winning here at the Kanyul mob.
