This year our student will again participate in weekly Wellbeing Specialist sessions. Classes will engage in a new series of lessons from The Resilience Project's (TRP) evidence-based wellbeing program to further understand and strengthen their practice in TRP's four big ideas:
Why have EPS joined the program?
Current mental health statistics in Australia are confronting.
Schools have a unique opportunity to enhance the mental health of young people and positively impact the overall wellbeing of the entire school community. By focusing on building wellbeing strategies, we equip students with the knowledge and tools to navigate life's challenges and stress. This approach helps create a happier, calmer, and more resilient school atmosphere.
The key to improving these statistics is prevention. Half of mental health issues begin before the age of 15. Current treatments only reduce the impact by 13–36%, but prevention could lower it by an extra 22%. Research also shows that quality wellbeing programs can prevent future mental health problems. These programs are likely to boost academic performance and reduce challenging behaviors in students.
Impact of TRP in schools
TRP's School Partnership Program is an endorsed program on Department of Education Victoria's 'School Mental Health Menu'.
