2C

Another year, another wonderful learning journey with 2C! In the first week of 2025, we focused on building rich connections and establishing a positive classroom environment. This will ensure that the learners are set up for success as we continue to engage in meaningful learning throughout the rest of the year.

In our first week, we centred our transition around the themes of ‘Connections’ and ‘Belonging’, where students actively and purposefully engaged in conversations about what these words meant to them. As a team, we created a classroom pledge (shown in the group photo), where learners collaborated to create behaviours that they needed to uphold inside the classroom. We then reflected on how Glen Waverley Primary School made us feel like we belonged, to which learners answered:

“They share their things with me.” – Pranav
“They listen to you.” – Gia
“They stand up for you.” – Bilaharii

Additionally, to apply their understanding, students created and designed their own ‘Coat of Arms’ to represent their deep connection to the concept of ‘Belonging.’ They linked positive emotions to a community they felt part of, such as their school, home, or a sports club. They also reflected on a time when they helped someone else experience a sense of belonging and considered how it made them feel afterward.

Here are some photos of learners with their ‘Coat of Arms’ below:

Overall, it has been a fantastic first week of learning and we look forward to what the rest of the year holds!
