Assistant Principal's Report

The first two weeks of school have been an exciting and important time as we set the foundation for a successful year of learning and growth. Through intentional activities and learning tasks, we have focused on creating a strong sense of belonging and community in each classroom. Our approach is centred around five key aims:
We understand that strong teacher-student relationships play a vital role in student well-being and academic success. Our teachers have been making authentic efforts to get to know their students, understand their needs, and create a supportive environment. Additionally, peer connections are being nurtured through activities that promote acceptance, respect, and friendship.
Each class has collaboratively developed their own Student Behaviour Expectations in alignment with our school-wide approach, GWPS Making Better Choices. This ensures that all students understand and take ownership of their responsibilities while fostering a positive and respectful learning environment.
As our school embraces and celebrates the diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives of our students and their families’ teachers have been fostering an inclusive environment where every student feels valued and respected. By encouraging empathy, understanding, and collaboration, students can thrive in a supportive and welcoming classroom community.
As we continue this journey together, we look forward to a year filled with learning, connection, and growth. Thank you for your support in creating a strong and positive school community.
