Principal's Report
End of Year Concert
Next Tuesday night, 10th December, is our End of Year Concert, which will be held at the Senior Campus, with the concert commencing at 7.00pm. All is set for what should be a terrific night. The students have been practising with their teachers and are ready for their performances. A reminder that children sit with their classes from 6.45pm, for the duration of the concert and we strongly ask all audience members to be considerate of others around them and not talk during performances. Families are welcome to bring a picnic dinner as there won't be any food or drinks sold on the night. Of course, we welcome siblings to watch the concert however, we ask them to be respectful and sit with their families throughout the evening. There is to be no ball games on the school grounds between 5.00pm – 9.00pm. For audience members, we will section off areas for people with chairs and other areas for those setting on blankets to maximise performance viewing for all. We request that as this is a primary school concert, that it is alcohol free.
Year 5 Parliament
We are fortunate at Gardenvale to have outstanding teachers who always endeavour to provide quality learning experiences and opportunities for their students. Our Year 5 classes are currently fully engaged in their ‘Your Vote Counts’ Inquiry Unit. The students have gained a wealth of knowledge about how Parliament works. As the term progressed, each class set up their own Class Parliament, which comprised of a government party and a Prime Minister, an opposition party and Leader of the Opposition as well as ministers, shadow ministers, senators, a speaker, a president and a clerk. The Year 5’s thoroughly enjoy formulating their own bills with their parties and then putting these bills forward for debate in both the House of Representatives and the Senate. Our Year 5 parents and grandparents were very impressed watching these parliament sessions in action last Thursday!
Prep Transition
It will be lovely to feel the excitement in the air as the 2025 Preps, and their parents, come to school tomorrow for their final Transition session. The Preps will spend time in their classrooms with their teacher and classmates, whilst their parents meet in their prospective 2025 ‘classes’ with some of our school staff.
Have an enjoyable week,
Janine
