Swimming Success!
A Splashing good time for Newlands students!
Hola familias de Newlands,
Today marked the final day of our swimming program, where students from Prep to Year 6 dived into learning, laughter and skill-building. This annual event is always a highlight of the school calendar, and this year was no exception!
Throughout the program, our students engaged in a range of activities designed for their swimming abilities. They learned vital water safety skills, practiced basic strokes, and tackled more advanced techniques for those ready to take their swimming to the next level. The lessons were designed to be both educational and enjoyable, with students learning through fun games, group challenges, and one-on-one support from swimming instructors. It was wonderful to see the students' confidence grow in the water, from beginners learning to float to advanced swimmers refining their strokes.
This program is a vital learning experience. Living in Australia, where water activities like swimming, surfing and boating are such a big part of many lifestyle, it is crucial that our students feel confident and safe in and around water. Developing swimming and water safety skills can be life-saving, empowering our children to enjoy water-based activities with awareness and competence.
A huge thank you to our incredible classroom teachers for their flexibility and dedication, ensuring all students had the opportunity to attend the swimming lessons. Their support—organising transitions, managing logistics, and cheering on the kids—made this program possible.
We are proud of the effort and enthusiasm shown by all our students. Their willingness to learn and participate in this program underscores why our school is committed to continuing the swimming program in the future. We look forward to building on these skills next year and helping every child become safer, more confident, and more capable in the water.
Thank you for your continued support in making programs like this such a success!
Yours faithfully,
