Eltham Mens Shed Donation
A big thank you to the Eltham Mens' Shed for the donation of some framing material and a Morso Mitre Gillotine.
This will enable students both in Wood Technology and Art to create some top-quality frames and enhance their products and is most welcomed by the students and staff alike.
Eltham Mens' Shed has been a great supporter of our school for many years, so a big thanks to Lindsay and the team for their on-going support.
2024 Nillumbeats Short Film Festival
This year's annual Nillumbeats Short Film Festival was held on Thursday 5 December, 7:00 - 9:00pm at Hoyts Greensborough, featuring a variety of shortlisted films created by Eltham High School Media students. They included:

Arts & Technology Exhibition 2024
On Tuesday evening, November 19 the opening of the Arts & Technology Exhibition was held with a preview of the show beginning at 6.00pm.
Those attending were entertained by some of our talented musicians - Celia Vivado (Year 12, Toner House), Tyra Douglas-Dwyer (Year 12, Pakana House), Lanaya Dundules (Year 12, Everard House), Fabian Miller (Year 12, Everard House) and Indi Egglestone (Year 12, Toner House) and enjoyed catering by our hospitality students and staff ably led by Yasemin Ziada all while taking in the extraordinary talent and diverse works of this year’s Arts & Technology students.
As with past years the event was exceptionally well attended by students, parents and the wider community reinforcing how positively the arts are regarded at Eltham High School.
Susan Reddrop officially opened our exhibition this year, providing an insight into own her experiences as a practicing artist and encouraging our students to pursue their passions and creativity by engaging with the arts. Susan is a well-regarded sculptor and glass artist who explores both glass blowing and casting techniques to create organic three dimensional forms. She has strong ties to the local community- she works from her studio space at Montsalvat in what was Matcham Skipper’s original studio.
We thank Susan for taking the time to open this year’s show and giving such an inspirational speech.
The opening night is an opportunity to recognise the achievements of our students through the awarding of certificates of excellence, along with the announcement of the major award recipients. The major awards include:
The Peter Brock Bursary Award, The Claire Edgoose Awards for Excellence, The Creative Excellence Award (supported by Vicki Ward), The Wes Muir Acquisition Prize, The Principals Prize for Excellence in Technology and The Principal’s Acquisition Prize.
This year we were delighted to announce three new awards: The Montsalvat Art Prize, The Australian Jewellery Supplies Encouragement Award and The Gold & Silversmith Guild Of Australia Encouragement Award
We sincerely thank the Brock Family, Andrew and Patricia Edgoose, Vicki Ward, Matt Jones CEO Montsalvat, Sergei Shatrov, Clay Talk, Australian Jewellery Supplies, The Gold & Silversmith Guild of Australia and the family of the late Wes Muir for their generous support and making these awards possible.

Season of Excellence 2025
Congratulations to Ali Nasrun (Year 12, Skipper House), and his Art Making & Exhibiting teacher Ute Leiner, on being shortlisted for Top Arts 2025. This is a wonderful achievement as the NGV Exhibition receives more than 1200 applications each year.
Ali’s work along with other shortlisted works, will now be viewed by a panel before the finalists are decided.
We wish Ali all the best with the next stage of the selection process.
Online Exhibition 2024
Our online exhibition is currently being constructed. This features work from our Arts & Technology students across years 7 -12, as well as a recording of the opening night from our physical show.
If you were unable to attend you will be able to see highlights from the night.

Postcard Show 2024
The 2024 Postcard Show was a huge success with many entries submitted by staff and students. Organised by our visual arts team, the competition invited people to respond create an artwork that responded to the theme ‘Music’. It was inspiring to see so many different and imaginative responses to the theme.
One student from each year level was awarded an Honourable Mention by the Visual Art Team.

Art Space Mondays and Fridays
Students who are wanting a space to make art and access materials can come to Room 613 at lunchtimes on Mondays and Fridays.
The space will be open to all year levels and abilities. If you like being creative and want to join other like-minded people then come along on either or both of these days and remember to bring your lunch.
