Year 11
'Small Steps, Big Results'
As we step into 2025, we’re excited to welcome our year 11 students to what promises to be an inspiring and successful year. The first few weeks have been focused on helping students settle into their VCE subjects, setting a strong foundation for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
On Friday, February 7th, our year 11 students attended a full-day program at Federation University. This event was a great way to start the year, giving students a chance to learn about the VCE and VCE VM programs, as well as gain practical advice on study skills, motivation, stress management and career pathways. It was an informative and engaging day that helped us understand what to expect and how to manage the demands of VCE.
Student report - Federation University - Teaghan Glassenbury
On the 7th of February year 11 students spent the day at Federation University. We were all split off into groups and did 4 activities throughout the day. We reviewed the rules of year 11 and how the year will work. We then went off to our workshops. One was all about careers and finding something to do in the future that interests us. Another workshop was planning out our study schedules and ensuring that we had time to study throughout the week. The last workshop we did was having a chat with the wellbeing centre about how to manage stress throughout VCE. Elevate Education came in to talk to us about ways to change our thinking to get the most out of VCE. Overall the day was a fantastic day spent well while educating us about university and VCE.
Looking ahead, we are excited to announce the Presentation Ball, which will take place later this year. A selected group of students have signed up to take part in this formal event, which will feature rehearsals starting on Monday, February 24th. This is a wonderful opportunity for those involved to experience a formal event, with dancing and a chance to celebrate with their peers.
We are also proud to introduce our Year 11 Captains for 2025, who are eager to lead and support their peers throughout the year. Here’s a message from them:
Hello, my name is Jemma Breasley, and I am excited to be one of your Year 11 Captains for 2025. I am motivated, have good leadership skills, enjoy cheerleading and baking. I am delighted for the opportunity to listen to my fellow students and implement your ideas and needs. Our motto for this year is 'small steps, big results' and I hope you all push yourself to take those small steps to reach your goals while also looking after yourself mentally. I hope you all have an amazing year.
Hi, I am Riley Mollison. One of your two Year 11 Leaders for 2025. I am proud to say I am a VCE VM student and taking Electrotechnology as my VET subject for years 11 and 12. I’d like to believe I'm considered a hard worker, and someone who is really open to their peers. I play sports myself and am generally a pretty active person. The year 11 motto for this year is 'small steps leads to big results'. Personally, this motto hits home. I think all students in the school should strive to conform to this quote, it will help us ALL in the long run. I hope everyone has had a great start to the year! I wish you all the best for future studies.
A quick reminder to both students and parents: as of now, there will be no more subject changes for year 11 students. We encourage students to reach out to their teachers if they have any questions or need support with their studies. Additionally, the Year 11 team are always available for anyone who might need guidance or just wants to talk.
We look forward to a fantastic year ahead and are excited to continue supporting our Year 11 students as they take their next steps toward success in the VCE. Together, we can make this a year of growth, achievement, and lasting memories!
