Year 8

'Have a Positive Impact'

Welcome Back!

Dear Year 8 Students and Families,

We hope you had a fantastic break and are ready to dive into an exciting and rewarding year ahead. Year 8 is a time of growth, new challenges, great opportunities and we are thrilled to embark on this journey with you.

The first few weeks have been jam-packed with lots of new, exciting changes. New classes, new friends, new teachers, new subjects, new lockers and a whole new structure. We know that change can be both exciting, but it can also be stressful at times, so we thank each and every one of you for embracing these changes and giving it your best shot!

Have a Positive Impact

This year we are going to have an ongoing theme throughout the year; 'Have a Positive Impact'. Whilst this is an exciting thing to focus on, many of us may be wondering what does this mean?

Have a positive impact on yourself

A young person's own learning should always be front and centre of their focus. Am I doing everything I can do to put myself in the best position to succeed? These actions could be as simple as arriving to class on time, with the correct equipment and ready to learn. It could be ensuring that you are always listening to your classroom teachers' instructions and completing all set work. It doesn’t mean that you need to get 100% on every assessment, but that you’re giving everything a go and completing it to the best of your abilities. Having a positive impact is all about doing the little things to make big differences.

Have a positive impact on your peers

Ensuring not only you have the opportunity to do well at Berwick College, but your classmates are also afforded this opportunity. Having a positive impact on your peers learning means that every single student has the opportunity to succeed to the best of their own abilities. It’s about supporting our friends during the hard times and celebrating them during the good.

Have a positive impact on the Berwick College Community

Feeling a sense of belonging and pride in being a student at Berwick College is essential. Making a positive impact in our school community means taking responsibility for creating a welcoming and respectful environment for yourself and others. Simple actions, like wearing your school uniform with pride, properly disposing of rubbish in designated bins, and showing respect for the school environment, all contribute to a better experience for everyone.

If you, your friends, or your child is 'Having a Positive Impact', we want to celebrate them! Let us know so we can celebrate all the amazing things our cohort does throughout 2025.  We are really looking forward to Year 8 in 2025 and can't wait to see the things you achieve!
