Last week we celebrated the induction of out 2025 Year 6 student leaders and this week our Semester 1 SRC will be appointed. These ceremonies hold significant importance as they offer a platform to recognise and commend students as they undertake leadership roles and shoulder associated responsibilities. Student leadership programs are an integral part of school, in our Junior School, our primary objective is to nurture the leadership potential of our students by offering structured and mentored opportunities for them to cultivate and hone their leadership skills.
In their roles as leaders within the Junior School, our students have the responsibility of collaboratively constructing a safe and inclusive environment where every peer feels valued, supported, and motivated. They are the figures our younger students admire, and their conduct profoundly influences attitudes towards leadership and responsibility.
As part of their leadership development our Year 6 badged leaders participated in a HICES Leadership Day at St Paul’s Grammar School in Cranebrook where they had the opportunity to create inter-school friendships with other Year 6 leaders from schools across Sydney and surrounding areas. This event was facilitated by Burn Bright Australia and gave students an opportunity to unpack what good leadership traits are. Thank you to Mrs Myrri Fatai – Leader of Technology and Innovation for attending this important day with our leaders.
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in classrooms is crucial for enhancing student engagement and facilitating personalised learning experiences. As part of the Junior School Device Program, Year 1 and Year 4 students have received brand new devices. Year 1 students now have access to individual iPads, and Year 4 students have their own loan laptops for learning in the classroom. Parents and students in these year groups attended an onboarding session and device distribution on Tuesday, 18 February, facilitated by Mrs Myrri Fatai, Leader of Technology and Innovation, IT Manager, IT Operations Manager and the technicians from Colton Computer Technologies.
Commencing in 2025, Year 6 students are permitted to take their 1:1 Junior School Loan Laptop home overnight to support home learning activities. They can use The Hub to open unit resources and assignments and easily access any of our online platforms.
Mrs Fatai works closely with classroom teachers to integrate digital technology skill across a range of key learning areas. The below image demonstrates the digital technology continuum that our Junior School students access from Pre-Kindergarten through to Year 6.
The Junior School Device Program allows teachers to integrate multimedia resources, interactive tools, and digital platforms into student learning, fostering a dynamic and inclusive learning environment that prepares our students for the technological demands of the modern world.
To commence the school year, a delightful gathering took place at Borrodell Winery, where families and staff came together to celebrate the new school year. Such gatherings afford marvellous opportunities for families to connect and form friendships with each other as they journey through the school years together. We extend our gratitude to our dedicated Engagement team and the P&F Association for their efforts in orchestrating this event that provided an important occasion for us to gather as a Junior School community.
Ava Davies recently competed in Western NSW International Karate competition held at Charles Stuart University, Bathurst. This was a wonderful opportunity for Ava who competed in her first every karate competition and received a 1St place in the 8-9 years girls, Kata division.
At Kinross Wolaroi we value and strive for academic rigour. Students have a myriad of opportunities to engage in enriching learning experiences which in some instances the school provides or facilitates student access to them. Please share with us your child’s interest, passions, and achievements by emailing junioroffice@kws.nsw.edu.au.
