Junior Learning Community

JLC (Year 1 & 2)
Date for your diary: Grade One Outdoor Education & BBQ – Friday, 21st March.
If you have any questions about this event, please contact your child’s teacher.
Our students have been excitedly practicing their songs for the Fete performance. They can’t wait to perform for you all next week.
We are really focusing on our morning check-in time and value this as a time to listen to your child read and discuss their text. A reminder to ensure that your child is arriving at school as close to 8:30am as possible on their check-in day.
Year 1:
We have been learning about place value, focusing on numbers in tens and ones and how they can be represented. In Literacy, the children are working with compound words and practicing reading, writing and spelling words with ‘ai’ and ‘ay’, along with various tricky words. In Religion we have commenced our unit on LENT and preparing for Easter.
Year 2:
Throughout the next couple of weeks, we are learning to read time on an analogue clock. It would be great if you could have discussions at home about the time you do things and the duration of time it takes to do different things.
In Literacy we have been learning about persuasive texts and the difference between facts and opinions. Feel free to have a discussion about your child’s favourite season and hear their reasons why.
