District Swimming Carnival

The Interschool sport calendar kicked off on Friday 14 Feb with the Rowville District School Sports Association District Swimming Carnival at Monash Aquatic Centre. We had record numbers of students interested in trying out for the Park Ridge team this year, which made it more competitive than ever to earn a spot on the team. All students should be congratulated on how they conducted themselves throughout the try out process. I would also like to thank the parents for transporti their children to and from our before school training session in the lead up to the district event. The students trained hard and showed great commitment to the team, and it seems the proof was in the pudding, with Park Ridge backing up our 2024 performance, once again finishing in 2nd place, equalling what is our best result in my 10 year tenure at PRPS. All members of the team should be congratulated on this outstanding achievement! Highlights from the day include:

Open Girls 4 x 50m Medley team featuring Savannah S (Backstroke), Olivia W (Breaststroke), Sophia K (Butterfly) and Ava Z (Freestyle) – 2nd place

Sophia K – 1st place in Freestyle with a new school record 37.99 seconds, 1st in Breaststroke with a new school record of 53.95 seconds and 1st Butterfly, breaking the school record with a time of 46.95 seconds. Sophia also broke the Backstroke school record at our trials with a time of 47.61 seconds. Sophia now holds all 4 individual records in the Under 10 Girls age group.

Robbie K - 1st place in Freestyle with a new school record 37.73 seconds, 1st in Breaststroke with a new school record of 50.16 seconds and 1st Butterfly, breaking the school record with a time of 41.83 seconds. Robbie also broke the Backstroke school record at our trials with a time of 47.09 seconds. Robbie now holds all 4 individual records in the Under 11 Boys age group.

Ava Z – 2nd place in Freestyle 

Mitchell L – 2nd place in Freestyle

Logan R – 2nd place In Butterfly with a new school record of 53.9 seconds. Logan also came 3rd in Freestyle and Backstroke, where he broke the school records with times of 42.59 seconds and 49.14 seconds respectively

Josh K -  2nd place in B Freestyle

Jacinta L - 2nd place in B Freestyle and 2nd in B Backstroke

Olivia W –  2nd place in Backstroke, 2nd place in Breaststroke and 2nd place in Butterfly 

Savannah S – 3rd in Backstroke but broke the school record with a time of 47.64 seconds in the Under 12 girls. 

Under 10 Boys 4 x 50m Freestyle relay team featuring Josh K, Henry S, Caelan G and Logan R – 2nd place

Under 10 Girls 4 x 50m Freestyle relay team featuring Jacinta L, Mackenzie D, Indie T and Sophia K – 1st place
