German

It has been a fantastic start to German lessons this year! Students from Prep to Year 2 have been engaged in fun and interactive activities while learning new vocabulary and language skills.

In Prep, students have been learning simple German greetings, such as "Hallo" (Hello) and "Tschüss" (Goodbye). Through songs, movement activities, and role-playing, they have practiced using these greetings with their classmates.

More recently, they have started learning their colours in German, participating in games like scavenger hunts to reinforce their understanding of words like "rot" (red), "blau" (blue), and "gelb" (yellow).

In Years 1 and 2, students have been expanding their greeting vocabulary, learning to say hi with "Guten Tag" (Good Day and "Wie geht es dir?" (How are you?). They have enjoyed singing along to our greeting song and practicing through role-play activities. More recently, they have begun learning about family members in German, using flashcards and creative drawing activities to match German words to pictures and describe their own families.

It has been wonderful to see students excited about learning German and growing in confidence as they practice speaking. We look forward to continuing our language journey throughout the year!
