Pastoral Care News

The term is flying by and we are now over the halfway mark. Students have settled into their new classes and, for some, assessments are underway. This can be a challenging time for some students and if you are noticing your child feeling particularly stressed over assessments I encourage you to reach out to their classroom teacher and/or Pastoral Leader to look at ways to help them manage this stress. It is important to note that feeling stressed in certain situations is a normal response - it is how this stress is managed that is important.
Positive Behaviour for Learning
A focus in the Wellbeing area for 2025 is the continued development of PBL within Marian. Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) is a framework that aims to bring together school communities to develop positive, safe, supportive learning environments. One major step in the initial implementation will be the rollout of our MCC Matrix of Behaviours. Staff and students have seen initial drafts and the feedback they have provided is being taken into account with our matrix. Once this is done we will share the matrix with the whole college community. The benefit of a school fully engaged with PBL is the environment should be consistent, predictable and calm - a positive for students and staff alike.
