Principal's Message

Carmela D'Amato

Dear Families,

Year 4's Fantastic Assembly

A huge thank you to our Year 4 students for their outstanding assembly on Wednesday! They put on a fantastic showcase of their learning from this term, impressing us all with their enthusiasm and knowledge. It was wonderful to see their confidence as they shared key concepts and demonstrated their understanding in creative ways.

One of the highlights of the assembly was the introduction of new mathematical vocabulary. Many of us discovered fascinating terms, including the word vinculum! I wonder how many of us remember what it means? If you’re unsure, don’t worry—our Year 4 students are now experts and would be more than happy to explain it to you!

A big thank you also goes to the Year 4 teachers and staff for supporting the students in their learning journey and helping them put together such an engaging and informative presentation. Well done, Year 4!

Easter Celebrations & Term 2 Start Date

This year, Holy Week and Easter Masses fall at the end of the two-week school break. As a result, Term 2 will commence on Tuesday, 22nd April.

To celebrate the joy of Easter, we are excited to host our Annual Easter Bonnet Parade on Tuesday, 22nd April at 9:15 AM on the Tiger Turf. This fun-filled event is a wonderful way to bring our community together and embrace the festive spirit.

Reinforcing Our School Rules

With only two weeks remaining in the term, we continue to emphasise the importance of our school rules, reminding students that these will serve them well in all areas of life—whether at school, at home, with friends, or in the wider community.

Our school rules are not just guidelines for behavior; they are a reflection of the values we uphold as a community. When we follow them, we tap into the kindness and respect that we each have within us. We create a positive and supportive environment where everyone feels safe, valued, and heard.

By following our school rules, we:

✅ Speak with kindness

✅ Treat each other respectfully

✅ Listen and respond with care

✅ Look out for and support one another

These values extend beyond the classroom—they are a way of being. We encourage families to reinforce these rules at home, helping children understand that kindness, respect, and responsibility should be practiced in every setting.

Let’s continue working together to create a strong, compassionate, and respectful school community!

SoGS Family Picnic – A Wonderful Community Gathering

A heartfelt thank you to all the families who joined us last Thursday for our SoGS Family Picnic! It was truly wonderful to see so many of you coming together—sharing a meal, connecting with new families, and simply enjoying each other’s company. Events like these strengthen the sense of community within our school, and we are grateful for your presence and participation.

Our students were especially thrilled with their free ice creams, adding a sweet touch to the afternoon! It was also fantastic to see parents savoring a freshly brewed coffee, courtesy of our very own in-house barista. A special thank you goes out to a generous member of our Parents’ Association for donating the coffee machine to our school—it’s already making a difference!

We’re excited to announce that we will be selling coffees at every opportunity we can, so be sure to keep an eye out for our coffee station at future events!

Once again, thank you for making the SoGS Family Picnic such a success—we look forward to many more community gatherings in the future!

Parent Association Updates

Our first event will be the ‘Guess the number of eggs’ competition. Students will be given the opportunity to guess how many eggs are in the jar. Each year level will have their own jar to guess from and whoever guesses the correct amount (or closest to) will be able to take the jar home and share the eggs with their family and friends.

IMPORTANT- SCHOOL COMMUNICATION PLATFORM

The nForma Parent Portal App

We are now beginning to roll out new features on the Parent Portal, including the Absent module, Notices module and Forms module. From Term 2 we will begin phasing out Audiri, so please reach out if you are not sure of how to get onto the Parent Portal.

1.Download the app “nForma for Parents” from the App Store or Google Play (many families will have already downloaded the app to access children’s reports last year).

2. Log in using the email address you have registered with the school. If you are not sure of what this is, please email the office at info@sogsgpark.catholic.edu.au and we can check which address is on file.

3.Ensure that you have notifications switched on so that you will know when there are updates on the app.

4.Please complete the Chromebook Policy and Mobile phone/Smartwatch Policy if you have not already done so (we need this to be completed for every child as soon as possible).

Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you are unsure of any of these steps.
