Physical Education - what's happening at STA!

League Tag Gala Day
On Friday 21st of March St Anthony's will have their very own whole school Sydney Roosters League Tag Gala Day. This has been send out via event on Compass with information on how the day will be run. It will be a fun day for the children of non-competitive games.
Swimming Championships
Congratulations to our 19 students that represented our school at the Primary Conference 1 Swimming Championships on Monday 3rd March at Des Renford. The children did our school very proud! Congrats also to Bonnie Rodgers, Morgan King and Chloe Hoiles who are advancing onto the next round! Thank you to all the parents who could attend on the day.
"I was lucky enough to make it all the way to the conference 1 swimming carnival where I represented our school. The races I had entered in were 50m freestyle, 50m backstroke, 50m, breaststroke, 50m butterfly, 100m freestyle, 200m medley and the relay along with Kai, Sam, and Cormack. I had an extremely fun time and would love to do it again for the incredible experience. All my competition was extremely talented. I could tell that they love swimming just as much as me. I had put in all my effort into the races and i'm glad I did because I made it to the next level in 50m butterfly at 5th place, 50m freestyle at 4th place and got a personal best (PB) with a time of 45.9s for 50m backstroke at 1st place which got me an award! I had the best time and I can’t wait to see how I will do in the tougher but even more exciting swimming competition in the next few weeks." - Morgan King
Pathway Trials
Let's hear about some of the experiences of the children who got the opportunity to trial for representative pathways sports:
" Wednesday morning was the day Morgan, Isaac, and Sam all went to the conference 1 soccer/football trials in Latham park. To start off the day we talked to many new people which we then talked to for the rest of the day. The position that I was trialling for was mid-field but the position I was put in was left wing which is the person that makes the runs next to the striker. I had an amazing time and was able to get 2 goals and 4 assists which I was personally extremely proud of. After those trials Morgan, Isaac, and Sam got McDonalds, ice-cream then went back to school. As a whole it was an amazing experience and if I got the opportunity to do it again I definitely would. If you wanted to try out for these soccer/football trials next year I would say that I thought it was an extremely fun experience and you might too." - Morgan
" I really liked the soccer trials. I was on a team with Samuel Thompson and we were very good. We made a new friend also called Sam and we played really well with him and 🦶⚽. We did it at Latham park and I was striker with our new friend Sam. After the soccer trial we got McDonalds🍟 and then we went back to school." - Isaac
"When my friends and I went to the Sydney Catholic school soccer trials at Latham Park we had a BLAST! 🤯 I couldn’t believe how many people were coming so we knew it wouldn’t be easy, luckily i got paired up with one of my best mates, Isaac. Although none of us made it in, the most important thing is having FUN" - Sam.
