2025 School Theme- Why Team? Why Team Westbreen?

Dear Westbreen Primary School Families,

It was an exciting week at Team Westbreen last week with our Foundation Students having started fulltime. Our students are engaging well in the learning and wellbeing programs, and we have commenced some of our tutoring and enrichment programs. Things are really starting to feel settled, and with all of us continuing to work together, we will ensure this continues for our students/children.

2025 School Council- Declaration of the Ballot

After the vote count for the two parent vacancies on Wednesday, March 5th, I can declare the result of the ballot. The following nominees have been elected to the School Council for the parent vacant positions for 2025. I would like to also inform the community that the vacant position for a department education staff member has also been filled for 2025. I would like to welcome these individuals to the school council in 2025.

I want to remind all parents that School Council meetings are open to visitors, and you are more than welcome to attend. If you are interested, please contact the school for more information.

I would like to extend my gratitude to all 2024 members for their commitment and support of our school. A special thanks goes to Aysel Ilhan-Pasevic and Deidre Ochoa for their contributions and active participation as School Council members during 2023-2024. Your efforts in promoting the successful implementation of our School Council charter within the community are greatly appreciated. I want to also acknowledge Aysel for leading the Westbreen PS Parents and Friends subcommittee for 2024. Thank you for your leadership in coordinating various raffles, stalls, and fundraising events for the entire school community in 2024.

Finally, I would like to thank Atika Tik and Megan McCullagh for their interest in the School Council. Your support truly makes Team Westbreen special as we unite as a team dedicated to WPS achievements and learning.

Our School Direction for 2025

As a school we continue to plan and work strategically on our School’s Strategic Plan that will conclude at the end of the school year and are proud of what has been achieved so far. This four-year plan from 2022-2025 had a clear direction on enhancing in particular our learning in Writing and Student Voice and Agency.

As part of the strategic plan, each year the school implements an Annual Implementation Plan (AIP) to ensure we reach our four-year targets in the Strategic Plan and continue to build on our successes.

This year our Annual Implementation Plan follows:

Goal 1- To improve student learning outcomes for all students

  • Building the curriculum knowledge of all staff with new curriculum initiatives and focus to strengthen the data literacy capabilities of all staff.

Goal 2- To improve student voice and agency in learning

  • Developing a whole school community approach to student goal setting and feedback.

If you would like further explanation regarding our 2022–2025 Strategic Plan or our 2025 AIP, please contact the office or visit our website: westbreenps.vic.edu.au in the coming weeks.

Just a reminder that our Annual General Meeting will take place on Monday, March 17th, at 6:30pm. I invite all members of the Westbreen Primary School community to attend. The main agenda item is the presentation of the 2024 Annual Report, along with a celebration of our school's achievements.

If you wish to attend, please contact the School Office for a copy of the draft 2024 Annual Report and agenda. The finalised 2024 Annual Report will be available at the School Office and on our website after the meeting.
