From the Principal

Yesterday The Hon Mark Dreyfus KC MP - Federal Member for Isaacs, visited our school to speak with the Year 5/6 students about leadership and present our student leaders with a certificate of leadership. Mr Dreyfus shared valuable insights on what it means to lead effectively and the qualities that define strong leadership. His message was positive and he encouraged students to embrace their potential and lead with empathy and resilience. An important takeaway message, was that all students are leaders, even if they don’t hold a formal leadership role. Leadership is not limited to titles or positions; it’s about the positive impact we have on others and the choices we make every day.

On Tuesday 2nd March, Miss Halliwell and Mrs Hastings along with the School Captains, Thierry and Jennica and School Vice Captains, Ethan and Alexa attended the GRIP (Generosity, Responsibility, Integrity, People) Student Leadership Conference at the Melbourne Convention Centre. They participated in activities to improve their role as school leaders. The topics and content covered in the conference focused on areas our students can immediately begin to action and implement. See page 4 for photos and feedback from our student leaders about the GRIP Conference.

Thank you to everyone who attended the Parent Information Sessions. It’s always wonderful to see such strong engagement from our community. While some of the information shared may not be new, it serves as an important reminder of the positive impact that effective communication and strong support between home and school can have on our children's success. If you haven’t yet, please remember to complete the Getting to Know Your Child survey. Your input is greatly appreciated.

Next week, NAPLAN testing will begin for our Year 3 and Year 5 students. It’s important that students come to school well-prepared, so please ensure they have a good breakfast, get a full night’s sleep, and arrive on time. Establishing good routines will help them perform at their best. Thank you for your support in helping students feel ready and confident.

FAMILY BBQ is coming!!!

I hope you are all excited for the 2025 FAMILY BBQ & COLOUR RUN.

We invite all families to come together for a fun-filled event on Wednesday 12th March 4.30pm – 6.30pm. It’s a fantastic opportunity to enjoy a sausage sizzle, meet other staff and other parents, get active and celebrate our wonderful school community.

Don’t miss out on the fun—mark your calendars!
