Year 2 - Who are We?

Who Are We?

To support our Term 1 and 2 Inquiry Topic of ‘Who Are We?’, the Year 2 students had the opportunity to speak to Lyndell and Steve from Victoria Police. The students were so excited and curious to hear about all different aspects of being a Police Officer in Victoria. Lyndell and Steve discussed various aspects of their jobs including their positions, duties within their role, the equipment they wear, the purpose of Victoria Police and how/when they first decided to become a Police Officer. The students were even lucky enough to have a look inside a Police car!

The Year 2 students were also lucky enough to have Megan and Dianne from Bunnings Warehouse attend to speak about their jobs. Megan discussed her role as a Regional Manager for Bunnings and what her role entails. Megan and Dianne spoke about their roles and responsibilities which include; profit and loss, talent learning and development, loss prevention, stock flow, logistics, future strategy, community involvement, merchandising, commercial & trade, and build capability in our teams, and the fun and cool stuff of getting our team to learn all the different products and tools we have in our warehouses.

In the remaining three weeks of the term, we still have a number of parents who have offered to come in and speak to our Year 2 students. We thank them for offering their time and we are looking forward to updating the community on these visits!

As the students have expressed an interest in learning about the different careers and jobs people do, we are still welcoming parents who are interested in sharing your career/work experiences with them. You must be available during school hours and have a valid Working with Children Check card. If you would like to participate in these parent talks, please contact your child's classroom teacher so that we can arrange

an appropriate day and time for your visit.
