Our Learning. Weeks 6 & 7
During this fortnight in the 3-and 4-year-old kindergarten, the children have been undertaking learning in the following areas:
Pre-Reading : Identifying their names in print with the use of name cards Familiarising themselves with the names of the first letters of their names Learning about the different parts of a book, including front cover, back cover, spine, title and illustrations. Using the illustrations to cue the children in to the story that is being told

Pre-Writing: Strengthening and developing the muscles in their hands through engaging in finger plays, working with playdough, manipulative equipment and threading Engaging in exercises to build the core strength and to practice crossing the midline

STEM : Developing an understanding of classifying items according to a common property developing an understanding of one to one correspondence Continuing to develop their knowledge of different shapes

Inquiry : All About Me - developing an understanding of a healthy lifestyle, including our needs for rest and exercise and healthy eating habits Learning about the different parts of the human body and their functions, and of the skeleton

Social & emotional learning : Becoming familiar with different emotions, what these look like in our faces and what can happen to make us feel this way Beginning to use the Zones of Regulation to identify how we are feeling

Celebration of learning
Enrolments for free 3 and 4 year old sessional kindergarten.
Enrol through Casey Council for Hillsmeade Kindergarten.
Long Day Care enrolments with kindergarten is through the ELC office.
